Belgian Pro League player votes for player of the season revealed with the final three

The Belgian Pro League has revealed the top three contenders for player of the season for the 2022/2023 campaign. Union St Gilloise are represented twice with captain Teddy Teuma and Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, while Mike Tresor is the final candidate from Genk.

Tresor has been outstanding for Genk this season, providing an incredible 23 assists in 38 games. The former Willem II winger joined the club in the summer of 2021 for €3.5m. Transfermarkt now value him at around €13m after this season, and at just 24-years-old the future appears bright for Tresor. With one game to go, he still has a chance of winning the league.

Teuma is the talismanic leader of Union. His leadership is not just vocal, with his style of play dragging the side through games at times. When he is absent, there is an obvious Teuma shaped hole in the midfield. The 29-year-old Maltese international led the side to promotion from the second tier and came close to winning the league with Union last year. Like Tresor, he to has a chance of winning the title in the final game of the season.

Boniface only joined Union last summer from Norway and it looks like his stay in Belgium will be short. Most of his goalscoring has come in the Europa League, but in the Pro League his technical and physical play has clearly impressed the rest of the league. The 22-year-old Nigerian has scored nine league goals and provided eight assists in 36 games.
