Bad start: Two new PSV signings sidelined

PSV are to be without both Myron Boadu and Kiliann Sildillia. Both have sustained thigh injuries in recent matches. The Eindhoven side reports that the duo will aim to be match-fit within four to six weeks.

Boadu was injured last night in the 3-1 Champions League defeat at the hands of Union Saint-Gilloise. The striker came on as a substitute and had to be substituted just minutes later. Sildillia was not in the match against Union, having already been injured in the league match against NEC Nijmegen.

With the above prognosis, Boadu and Sildillia will miss next weekend’s high-stakes clash against Ajax. PSV’s second Champions League match, against Bayer Leverkusen, also seems unlikely. In the worst-case scenario, PSV will also be without Boadu and Sildillia for the league match against Feyenoord and the third Champions League match against Napoli.

Boadu’s injury, in particular, will be a source of concern in Eindhoven. The striker was brought in as a replacement for the seriously injured Alassane Pléa, while rival Ricardo Pepi has yet to play a full match after a serious injury.
