As per reports from ESPN and VoetbalPrimeur, AZ Alkmaar will be without Jordy Clasie in the KNVB Cup final against Go Ahead Eagles.
The AZ captain is said to be struggling with a calf injury, and while there was initial hope that he would be fit in time for Monday’s final at De Kuip, new revelations suggest the midfielder will continue on the sidelines.
Clasie felt the issue two weeks ago and in the time of his absence, the North Hollanders have not won a match. ESPN suggest Clasie will not make it to the final in Rotterdam, unless ‘a medical miracle’ takes place.
On Sunday, Zico Buurmeester took Clasie’s place when AZ lost 1-0 to Heracles Almelo. Kristijan Belić, who is the typical stand-in, will also have to miss the cup final due to a rib injury.
In some otherwise positive news, Sven Mijnans seems to be fit just in time for the match against Go Ahead.
