AZ Alkmaar concede they will lose Benfica Lazio target Milos Kerkez

AZ takes into account that Milos Kerkez will make a transfer this summer. Whether it will be Benfica or another club, the Alkmaarders have already pre-sorted for the market with the purchase Norwegian youth international David Moller Wolfe, Voetbal International reports.

The 19-year-old wing-back has gather a lot of interest and is understood to be high on the wishlists of Portuguese side Benfica and Serie A club Lazio. Both clubs are in the market to bolster their defence and the Hungarian teenager is seen as the perfect pick ahead of pre-season.

In an interview with VI, director of football Max Huiberts admits it is going to be a tough summer transfer window after a number of players have expressed an interest in exploring other options to progress their career.

“It is true that several boys have indicated that they are open to a step higher,” Huiberts said.

“In some cases, a player will not be keepable, however much we would like it to be. That’s just how it goes, when a large foreign club reports to a Dutch club.”

The Hungarian international completed his first full season as a starter and made such an impression that international interest is overwhelming. “Milos is hot,” Huiberts agrees.

“Sometimes a player is just unstoppable. You can sometimes say no to a Belgian mid-engine or an English relegation candidate . But in his case, it’s about big clubs. Milos is a very special boy with great qualities. The whole of Europe knows that by now.”

The young defender was previously on AC Milan’s books before making the move to the AFAS Stadium in January last year and made his senior debut against Heerenveen in May.

Since then, he has gone on to make 33 league appearances, scoring three times and picking up one assist.
