Ayase Ueda hits 15 goals for the season as Cercle Brugge handle Kortrijk at home

Ayase Ueda grabbed his 15th goal of the season in 32 games for Cercle Brugge as the green and black beat Kortrijk 2-0 at home. Thibo Somers gave the home side the lead after Ueda had had a goal in the 3rd minute ruled out for offside. Olivier Deman was then fouled in the box, with the Japanese striker stepping up to take the penalty. The 24-year-old slotted home past Tom Vandeberghe.

Cercle are now level on points with Charleroi in 8th, with games won keeping them out of the top eight and a place in play-off two. The Zebras beat Westerlo 3-2 thanks to a late Youssopuh Badji goal. Kortrijk, on the other hand, remain in 14th place and are still six points above the relegation zone. None of the sides in the bottom three won, meaning that the defeat was not as costly as it could have been. Eupen now have a chance against Anderlecht to extend their three point gap to the bottom sides.
