Aursnes: “I have very good memories of Feyenoord”

Benfica’s Norwegian midfielder Frederik Aursnes previewed his side’s Champions League clash with Feyenoord with kind words regarding his former club.

Speaking with the press ahead of Wednesday’s match, the 28-year-old talked about the progress he has made since his departure but also knows how difficult Feyenoord are to play.

“I’m really looking forward to the match against my former club. It’s going to be a tough match. They’re a good opponent and I know how tough they are to play against. I have very good memories of Feyenoord. That was a great adventure for me. We won the league and reached the Conference League final.”

Continuing about the comparative levels between the Netherlands and Portugal, Aursnes said:

“The leagues are quite similar. You have three or four top teams with more money than the rest. It is also comparable in terms of level, which you can see in the coefficient ranking.

“I feel like I have a lot more experience. The level here is very high. When I played for Feyenoord, I had only played football in Norway. That was my first foreign adventure. I’ve come a long way now and then you naturally get better. You play with better players, against better opponents. So I hope I have grown.”
