Attacking reinforcements for KV Mechelen as Kerim Mrabti makes his return

Mechelen can finally welcome back Kevin Mrabti from a knee injury that has kept him out of action since June 2022. The 28 year-old Sweden international was one of Mechelen’s top performers last season, scoring 10 goals in 39 games and providing 7 assists.

The former Birmingham City attacker joined Mechelen in the summer of 2020 on a free transfer. Mrabti’s contract expires at the end of this season, but the club do have an option to extend for an extra year. It is likely they will be waiting to see how well the player bounces back from his injury.

While Mrabti is back, the side are having to do without a number of players due to injury. Jordi Vanlerberghe is still recovering from heart surgery, while Julien Ngoy, Jonathan Bolingi and Thibault Peyre remain out with injuries. Cameroonian international Samuel Oum Gouet has not trained since returning from the World Cup, so is unlikely to feature in the games before the new year.
