Atlético Madrid to join Liverpool and Bayern Leverkusen in summer bidding war for Genk’s Moroccan teenage star

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Atlético Madrid have joined the race to sign Bilal El Khannouss. The 19-year-old is one of the top rated talents in Belgium at the moment, but there is very little chance that he will be leaving Genk this winter. However, as the paper reports, Genk feel that this summer they will probably have to sell the Moroccan teenager, but are hoping that he will become their record transfer sale. Genk are looking to receive more than the €25m they were given by Sheffield United for Sander Berge in the winter window of the 2019/2020 season.

The La Liga side are not the only ones wanting to acquire the attacking midfielder. Both Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen have sent scouts to watch El Khannouss play, and will likely be involved in the bidding war that Genk are hoping to enact during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The teenager is currently away at AFCON, having made two appearances off the bench for Morocco.
