Roma try to snatch Oscar Gloukh from under Ajaxโ€™s nose

AS Roma are reportedly making a last-minute attempt to sign Ajax midfield target Oscar Gloukh. The top Italian club have joined the race for the sought-after Israeli international from FC Red Bull Salzburg, according to sources close to the Italian club.

As De Telegraaf reads, Ajax still have the best chance of signing Gloukh, but Romaโ€™s interest is putting pressure on them to complete the deal as quickly as possible. Roma have already expressed their interest in Gloukh to the playerโ€™s management and are preparing a bid for the creative midfielder.

Initially, Ajax reached a general agreement with Salzburg late Saturday evening for a transfer fee of โ‚ฌ15 million plus bonuses. Furthermore, the Amsterdam club neared an agreement with Gloukh himself on a contract until 2030, during which his salary could gradually increase to โ‚ฌ1.8 million gross, thanks to Champions League and other bonuses.

The 21-year-old Gloukh has already earned 21 caps for Israelโ€™s first team and boasts impressive statistics for his club. In 100 matches in Austria, Gloukh has scored 21 goals and provided 23 assists.

At his boyhood club, Maccabi Tel Aviv, who he left for Salzburg two years ago, the midfielder scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 33 matches. The young man from Rehovot, a city south of Tel Aviv, has scored three goals and provided two assists in 21 international matches for Israel.
