Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Jurriën Timber, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners have submitted a second proposal to Ajax as they aim to complete the signing this week. The value of the second proposal is reportedly around €45m.
Last week Jurriën Timber agreed personal terms with Arsenal. The Dutch defender made it clear that he’s keen on making the move to the Emirates and now the deal is almost done. The 22-year-old has agreed a five-year contract.
Arsenal made an initial offer to Ajax last week, which was worth around €35m. The Dutch giants wanted more, and Arsenal have gone straight ahead with matching their asking price. Timber is very keen on the Arsenal project and wants to join the North London club.
Timber featured 34 times in the Eredivisie last season. He scored two goals and provided two assists within those games as Ajax finished in third place. The centre-back has also represented the Netherlands 15 times.
Jurriën Timber is an exceptional talent and there’s no surprise that Arsenal are keen on getting the deal done. His ability to play out from the back and provide the Ajax attack with opportunities is exceptional. His physical presence in the Ajax defence is also superb. If Arsenal pay the reported €45m fee for the youngster, it could turn out to be brilliant value for money for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
