Arsenal submit proposal worth £30m to sign Ajax defender Jurriën Timber

Arsenal have submitted a £30m bid for Ajax defender Jurriën Timber, according to David Ornstein. Ajax reportedly want £50m for the 22-year-old Netherlands international, but there is optimism that a compromise can be reached between the two clubs.

Timber has two years remaining on his current contract. The former Manchester United transfer target has represented his country 15 times, and he featured 34 times in the Eredivisie last season. He scored two goals and provided two assists within those games as Ajax finished third. David Ornstein reports that personal terms with Timber are thought to be in place already.

Jurriën Timber is an exceptional talent and there’s no surprise that Arsenal are extremely interested in the Dutch defender. His ability to play out from the back and provide the Ajax attack with opportunities is exceptional. His physical presence in the Ajax defence is also superb. If Arsenal pay between £30m-£50m for the youngster, it could be brilliant value for money for the North London club.
