Arsenal and Manchester United expected to make approaches for PSV’s Cody Gakpo in coming weeks

It is expected that Arsenal and Manchester United will approach PSV about signing Cody Gakpo in the coming weeks.

Gakpo has been linked with a move away from Eindhoven all summer after an immensely impressive 2021/22 campaign, with English clubs most interested.

Leeds have been trying to sign him since the start of the transfer window while Nottingham Forest have recently made an offer too, as per Eindhovens Dagblad.

It’s unlikely that he’d leave for either club, but the Dutch publication expect bigger Premier League teams to approach him before the end of the month.

“It is expected that Gakpo and PSV will also be approached by clubs from the upper echelon in the Premier League this month,” they state.

Those clubs are almost certainly Arsenal and Man United, both who have been interested in the Dutchman for a number of weeks.

ED don’t expect PSV to let him go for any less than €40 million though and feel the fee they demand could be considerably more.

Whether he chooses to try and force and move himself or stay where is largely depends on whether the club can qualify for the Champions League in the coming weeks, as he has said himself.
