Feyenoord manager Arne Slot says he wasn’t surprised to see Napoli beat Ajax 6-1 in Amsterdam.
After taking the lead in their third Champions League match, the Eredivisie champions were destroyed by their Italian opponents, conceding six goals without reply.
It was a shock result to many who believed the Dutch side were around the same level as Napoli and good enough to get a draw at the least.
Watching it unfold though, Slot wasn’t surprised as he knew how good the Serie A team were, and enjoyed watching them play.
“As a fan, you naturally watch Ajax – Napoli,” the Feyenoord manager said.
“Whether I was shocked? Then you would not realize what Napoli has shown in recent weeks and months. I was very impressed with Napoli.”
“I liked them on the ball, but I especially enjoyed their intensity and pace without the ball.”
Many Ajax fans would like Slot himself to replace Alfred Schreuder, but it’s highly unlikely he’d make such a move.
