Arne Slot planning to spring a surprise against Lazio

Arne Slot says he’s going to play a player in Feyenoord’s match with Lazio that people won’t be expecting.

The match at home to the Italian side is perhaps Feyenoord’s most important of the season yet. If they win, they can finish top of their Europa League group, but can be knocked out of Europe altogether if they fail to do so.

They’ll have to deliver one of their best performances under Slot if they’re to prevail, and the manager is planning to spring a surprise in his lineup for the match.

“I think there will be a player on the field tomorrow that not everyone will expect. I’m not going to say who that is,” he said ahead of the game.

Feyenoord didn’t play a match at the weekend while Lazio lost 3-1 to Salernitana, and Slot thinks the time off has helped his team a lot.

“We like that we had some rest,” he added.

Small pains can be solved and the freshness can be built up. We think we did well to spend the weekend not to play.”
