Arda Güler to Ajax? Speculation starts after Dutchman attends Fenerbahçe match

Fenerbahçe midfielder Arda Güler is reportedly a top transfer target for Ajax this summer. The talented Turkish 18-year-old has scored six goals and provided five assists in 32 first-team appearances this season.

According to Turkish media outlet Extra Futbol, Dutchman Robin Veldman attended the cup tie between Fenerbahçe and Sivasspor on Wednesday night. The current Anderlecht assistant coach has been heavily linked with a move to Ajax in recent weeks, leading various Turkish media to report that he was in attendance to watch Arda Güler.

Veldman would most likely move to Ajax to become a coach in their youth academy. Seeing as Anderlecht have completed their season in Belgium, the 37-year-old could make the switch sometime soon. However, it could be possible that Veldman was in Istanbul on Anderlecht’s behalf.

Arda Güler is one of the most exciting prospects in the Turkish Süper Lig at the moment. The versatile midfielder made his debut for Fenerbahçe in August 2021 at the age of 16. Since then, he’s reached 48 matches for the club. Güler has been compared to Mesut Özil in his similar style of play. His current contract expires in 2025, meaning Ajax will have to pay a high price for the teenager.
