Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Antwerp midfielder Mahamadou Doumbia is set to leave Antwerp this week. The young Malian midfielder will sign a five year deal with Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad club. Both Antwerp and his future side have agreed a fee in the region of €19m, another huge windfall for Antwerp after they sold Senne Lammens to Manchester United for north of €20m. With no European football this season, this influx of cash is welcome at Antwerp this season.
However, it will be hard to replace Doumbia. The young Malian midfielder has been impressive in the Antwerp midfield with a number of eye catching performances. The goals he has scored this season have been equally impressive. In six games this season the 21-year-old has scored twice and provided one assist. Doumbia made his debut for the Great Old during the 2023/2024 campaign. As a teenager he played 14 games and scored three times. He was a regular for the side last year, with three goals and two assists in 34 games. He will likely make his Africa Cup of Nations debut for Mali later this year.
