According to Het Nieuwsblad, Antwerp defender Ayrton Costa could be set to leave Belgium after just six months. The 25-year-old left Independiente in the summer after making 63 appearances to move to Belgium to join Antwerp. However, limited playing time means that the defender is hoping to return to his homeland in January. According to the report, Boca Juniors are willing to sign Costa and a deal could be reached within the next few days.
Antwerp paid around €2.3m to sign Costa in the summer so would likely want to get a similar amount in return. The plan should then be to reinvest this money into a new left-back. Since Ritchie De Laet retired over the summer, Costa was meant to be the replacement. However, head coach Jonas De Roeck has been using Jelle Battaile instead. The right-back has done well in patches but if he were to get injured they would be short in that position.
