Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Antwerp defender William Pacho will join Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023. The fee is believed to be €16m, which will be a club record for the Great Old. The 21-year-old Ecuadorian international moved to Belgium in the winter of 2022 from Independiente in Ecuador for a fee just under €3m. The young central defender has played 28 times for Antwerp this season in all competitions, becoming a mainstay alongside Belgian international Toby Alderweireld.
Frankfurt seem to have beaten a few clubs to the signing of Pacho. Recently, both Rangers and Monaco were interested in the defender but appear to have been unable to strike a deal with Antwerp.
Antwerp have already seen one player move to Germany, with Michel Frey joining Schalke 04 on loan with a purchase option. Victor Fischer also appears to be leaving the club, with the Danish international hoping to join AIK in Sweden during the transfer window.
