Antwerp overpower Oostende to make back to back cup finals

Antwerp are once again back in the final of the Belgian domestic cup. After a 1-1 draw in their first leg clash with second-tier Oostende they returned home to comfortably win 3-0. Two goals from striker George Ilenikhena and a goal from defender Zeno Van Den Bosch were more than enough to give them a 4-1 aggregate lead in a game they dominated. For Oostende, they can certainly be proud of their achievement in the cup this season given all the off field issues they are facing. Despite going into administration, it appears that there is hope that a buyer will come in and rescue the side.

For Antwerp, they are making a habit of appearing in the Belgian cup final. This is the third final they have made since returning to the top flight of Belgian football. They have won the previous two, beating Club Brugge in 2020 and KV Mechelen last season. They now face Union St Gilloise in the final next month, with the Brussels side making their first final since 1914. Last season the sides met in the sei-finals, with Antwerp winning the tie on penalties after a 1-1 draw over two legs.
