Antwerp held talks with Daley Blind, player would consider move if not starting at Ajax

It has been reported that Royal Antwerp have held talks with Daley Blind’s entourage, who indicated the player would be interested in joining the club if not playing regularly at Ajax.

The Belgian club has been going Dutch this summer, with Mark van Bommel becoming the manager, Marc Overmars becoming the Director of Football, Vincent Janssen being signed and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp set to follow in the coming days.

The club reportedly wants to continue that trend with a spectacular signing, hoping to bring Netherlands international Blind to the club.

According to David van den Broeck, a journalist for Het Nieuwsblad and Gazet van Antwerpen, they enquired about the player earlier this summer and even held talks with his entourage.

It may seem like a pipe dream for the club given the calibre of player he is, but Blind would apparently be interested if he were to lose his place in the starting XI at Ajax.

“For the balance in midfield, Antwerp earlier this mercato also inquired about Daley Blind,” the journalist tweeted.

“It spoke to his entourage, but a transfer could only take place if he would lose his starting spot at Ajax, which is not yet the case.”

Blind may be starting for Ajax at the moment, but with left-footed centre-back Calvin Bassey and left-back Owen Wijndal joining, that could well change.
