Antwerp confirm Jacob Ondrejka signing

Antwerp have confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Swedish attacker Jacob Ondrejka from Elfsborg. The young Swedish international will join the club on the 1st of July and becomes their first signing of the summer. In 98 games for Elfsborg, the forward scored 16 goals and provided eight assists.

Antwerp have been in the market for more wide attackers with the departure of Victor Fischer and the injuries that have seen them struggle for squad depth this season. Despite some injuries, the side are still in the fight for the title. With one game of the regular season to go, the Great Old are in third place, just five points off Genk in first. At the end of the regular season the points will be halved and Antwerp will battle it out with Union St Gilloise and Genk for the title.

While Ondrejka becomes the sides first incoming transfer of the summer, there have been plenty of rumours about outgoings. Arthur Vemeeren is one that will be heavily linked with a move away, while on loan midfielder Mandela Keita has also been linked with a host of English clubs. Antwerp do have a purchase option on the player, but the interest from England may put the player of signing a contract even if the option is taken up.
