Antwerp and PSV in talks to sign Calvin Stengs from Nice, Belgian club closer to reaching deal

Both Antwerp and PSV are in talks to sign Dutch winger Calvin Stengs from Nice.

After impressing enormously in the Eredivisie with AZ, Stengs struggled in his first season at Nice and has thus been linked with a move away throughout the summer.

PSV have been the club most heavily linked with him, and with Cody Gakpo set to leave, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that they’re now trying to sign him.

However, the Italian journalist also reports that they’ll face competition from Antwerp who have also held talks as they look end their busy transfer window with one final big signing.

Where Stengs ends up may largely depend on whether Gakpo leaves PSV or not. Should he stay, the Dutch club will bring in Anwar El Ghazi but no other wingers; should he leave, they’d look to put El Ghazi in Gakpo’s position and get Stengs to play on the right.

According to De Telegraaf though, Antwerp are set to beat PSV to the player’s signature regardless.
