André Villas-Boas and Rafa Benitez apply for Red Devils vacancy

Voetbalkrant are reporting that André Villas-Boas and Rafa Benitez have applied for the Red Devils head coach vacancy. Both former Chelsea bosses now join the likes of Andrea Pirlo and other unnamed candidates who have applied for the role left by the departing Roberto Martinez. The Spanish coach has since become the new number one with the Portuguese national side.

Saudi Arabia’s current head coach and two time AFCON winner Herve Renard was linked to the role, but the Frenchman took to social media to deny the rumours that he had applied for the vacancy.

Another famous name linked to the role is Thierry Henry. The former Barcelona and Arsenal forward has been coaching with the side for the past few years. Leading players in the Red Devils squad, such as Romelu Lukaku and Toby Alderweireld have voiced their support for Henry becoming the next head coach. however, it has not been confirmed that Henry himself has actually submitted an application.
