Anderlecht looking to hijack Barcelona move for Chelsea youngster

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Anderlecht are trying to hijack Barcelona’s move for Chelsea youngster Tudor Mendel-Idowu. The 18-year-old had a verbal agreement with Barcelona after leaving Chelsea, but now Anderlecht are trying to steal the player away from the Catalan club. Mendel-Idowu has scored 13 goals in 39 games for Chelsea’s youth sides, alongside six assists.

Anderlecht are searching for a winger to bolster the squad. They have signed a new goalkeeper in Maxime Dupé from Toulouse, who will replace the now departed Bart Verbruggen and Hedrik Van Crombrugge who have joined Brighton and Genk respectively. They also signed a new striker in Kasper Dolberg, who joined for a cut price deal from Nice. They are hopeful that his goals will be enough to lead them back to European football.

In order to return to the top of Belgian football, they are hoping to keep Zeno Debast at the club for at least one more year. The club have already turned down offers from Eintracht Frankfurt and Villareal for Debast.
