Mads Kikkenborg brief time in Belgian football has come to an end. The Danish goalkeeper is leaving Anderlecht to join Norwegian side Molde for around €400k. With Anderlecht set to bring in Schalke 04 goalkeeper Justin Heekeren is as a back up to first choice Colin Cooseman’s, Kikkenborg has been deemed surplus to requirements. He was only going to move on if Heekeren came in.
Kikkenborg joined Anderlecht in the winter window of the 2023/2024 season from Lyngby. He had spent a number of seasons with the Danish side after leaving Esbjerg fB in 2021. After 53 appearances with Lyngby, Anderlecht brought him to Belgium. However, Kikkenborg leaves with just five first team appearances for Anderlecht.
He joins a Molde side that have not won the Eliteserien title since 2022. Molde and Rosenborg used to be the two sides competing for the title, but now Bodo/Glimt are the dominant force in the league, even if they were pipped to the post by Viking last season.
