Anderlecht eyeing up Wolfsburg goalkeeper as replacement for Kasper Schmeichel

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Anderlecht are interested in signing Koen Casteels for next season. The 31-year-old, who has spent just under a decade with the Bundesliga side but is out of contract in the summer. This season he has made 24 Bundesliga appearances this season, keeping four clean sheets and conceding 36.

Casteels came through the Genk academy and was part of the side that won the title in 2011, although not as the sides starting goalkeeper. He then moved on to join TSG Hoffenheim and then Werder Bremen before ending up at Wolfsburg. In 2015/2016 he won the German Super Cup and has gone on to make 274 appearances for the club, keeping 91 clean sheets during that time.

Anderlecht are looking for their next goalkeeper after veteran Kasper Schmeichel may not extend beyond the end of this season. After a shaky start, the former Leicester City legend has gone on to be a reassuring presence at the back for the side as they mount a title challenge.
