Anderlecht deny rumours that it has an agreement with new European Super League

Anderlecht have released a statement in light of the news about the potential launch of a new European Super League. There had been rumours that the Brussels side had an agreement in place with the breakaway competition, however the statement released by the Mauves has denied this. The statement concluded ‘RSC Anderlecht underlines that it has made no commitments to those behind the possible Super League’.

Anderlecht are currently second in the Belgian Pro League and well placed to enter one of the three current UEFA European competitions next season. This season the side did not compete in any form of continental football, having missed out on the two Belgian Pro League play-offs following a disappointing 2022/2023 season.

During their history, Anderlecht have won four European cups. In 1983 they won the UEFA Cup, finishing runners up in the following season. In 1976 and 1978 they won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. They also won the UEFA Super Cup in 1976 and 1978.
