Anderlecht confirm former Barcelona defender Moussa N’Diaye has been called up by Senegal to replace Ismail Jakobs

Anderlecht’s social media account has confirmed that former Barcelona defender Moussa N’Diaye has been called up to the Senegalese national team for the Qatar World Cup. N’Diaye will replace Monaco’s Ismail Jakobs, who did not get the correct documentation for a change of nationality approved in time.

N’Diaye joined Anderlecht in the summer from Barcelona B, having never made an appearance for the first team. So far, the 20 year-old has made 6 appearances for the Mauves, providing one assist. This is his first call up for the national side, having not been capped at senior level yet.

Senegal are in Group A alongside Qatar, Ecuador and the Netherlands. They open their campaign against the Netherlands, but will be without their talismanic forward Sadio Mane due to injury. The Lions of Teranga face Qatar on Friday the 25th, before their final group game against Ecuador on the 29th of November.
