Anderlecht captain Hendrik Van Crombrugge no longer part of the clubs plans

Following their derby defeat to Union St Gilloise, Hendrik Van Crombrugge revealed to Het Nieuwsblad that he has been told by the board that he is no longer part of the clubs plans going forward. In his place, 20-year-old Dutchman Bart Verbruggen was preferred. Verbruggen was heavily linked with a move to Burnley in the summer of 2022, with former Anderlecht manager Vincent Kompany keen to bring the young shot stopper with him to England. Burnley are also currently interested in signing young Sint-Truiden defender Ameen Al-Dakhil in January.

Van Crombrugge joined Anderlecht back in 2019 from Eupen for around 2 million euros. The 29 year-old has also been capped once by the Red Devils.

While the club are clearly open to moving the goalkeeper on, their young players are also attracting attention. Sunderland are reportedly interested in Lucas Stassin. Stassin has played the majority of the season for Anderlecht Futures in the Challenger Pro League, with 11 goals in 16 matches. This form saw him included in first team squads during the first half of the season, with the 18 year old making his first team debut against Club Brugge.
