Anderlecht and Standard Liege fighting for Tottenham’s Romaine Mundle

HLN are reporting that both Standard Liege and Anderlecht are fighting for the signature of Tottenham youngster Romaine Mundle. The 20-year-old is out of contract and spent most of this season with the Spurs second team, where he scored seven goals and provided four assists in 23 games. Mundle has been with Spurs since 2019, making his way through the youth sides to the second team.

One area that Standard may have an advantage is that they could offer Mundle European football. Should they finish top of play-off two, they will be through to the qualification rounds for the Europa Conference League. Anderlecht missed out on the play-offs and thus European football as well. Despite a strong Conference League campaign, their domestic inconsistency cost them a chance of returning the continental football in 2023/2024.

Anderlecht are looking to restructure the squad, with the likes of Lior Refaelov and Majeed Ashimeru just a few that may be leaving. Mundle certainly fits the profile for both teams, who are looking to bring in talented youngster that they can develop and then sell for profit.
