Almere City prepare for major clean-up: Departure of 16 players is imminent

Almere City can say goodbye to no less than 16 players after being relegated from the Eredivisie, according to Omroep Flevoland. The relegated club are also preparing for major changes within the staff.

A major clean-up is expected this summer. With Damil Dankerlui, Joey Jacobs, Thom Haye, Anas Tahiri, Nordin Bakker, Alex Carbonell and Faiz Mattoir, there are seven players with expiring contracts that will not be extended.

Tim Receveur, Hamdi Akujobi, Kornelius Hansen, James Lawrence and Marvin Martins will also be out of contract in mid-June, but a longer stay is still a possibility for them. Loan players Ricardo Visus and Ali Jasim will return to Real Betis and Como, respectively.

The club also expects key players Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp and Vasilios Zagaritis to leave this summer, with Almere hoping to receive a ‘nice’ transfer fee for both players.

In addition to all players, assistant coach Jeffrey Talan and goalkeeper coach Agil Etemadi are also leaving. The former is embarking on an adventure in Indonesia while the latter is moving to sc Heerenveen.

According to Omroep Flevoland, Almere have already found a replacement for the departing goalkeeper coach and Danny Schenkel, coach of Jong Almere, is one of the main candidates to lead the team in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie next season.
