Ajax terminate Lucas Ocampos loan deal early after disappointing spell

Ajax have terminated the loan deal of Lucas Ocampos after a disastrous time in the Netherlands, Voetbal International reports

The Argentine joined the Eredivisie side in the hope of filling the gap left by Antony who left in a big money move to Manchester United.

The Brazilian moved to Old Trafford in a deal worth £100 million with the Dutch moving quickly in the summer to replace him with Ocampos from Sevilla with a view to buy him permanently later on.

Unfortunately, this was not the transfer they had hoped with Ocampos managing jsut six appearances – one of those a start – totalling just 114 minutes of play failing to score or assist in that short time frame.

With this in mind, the Supervisory Board at the Johan Cruyff Stadium concluded the loan spell should end this month as they look to search for potential replacements in the winter transfer window.

Ocampos returns to Sevilla with compatriot Jorge Sampaoli at the helm.
