Ajax summer target Thiago Almada announces he wants to move to Europe in January but favours Premier League or La Liga move

Atlanta United and Argentina national team midfielder Thiago Almada has announced that he wants to move to Europe in January. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder was one of Ajax’s top attacking targets during the summer, but a move was unable to take place.

Speaking to ESPN Argentina, Almada said ‘I want to go to Europe now! Yes, now in this upcoming transfer window, I want to go now.’ The four-time Argentina international made his thoughts clear, saying ‘If I have to choose it’s Premier League or La Liga, but I would like any top league.’

Thiago Almada kicked off his career in his home country, playing for Vélez Sarsfield. In 2022 the talented midfielder made a €15m move to Atlanta United, where he has torn teams apart in the MLS. This season, Almada has scored twelve goals and provided sixteen assists in 33 appearances. The versatile player’s price tag has skyrocketed recently, and it’s only going to get higher and higher.

Transfermarkt values Thiago Almada at €27m, which seems a bit of a stretch for Ajax if they’re keen on making a move. Expect him to be bought for more than €30m if he does join a European side in January.
