Ajax have sold Borna Sosa to Crystal Palace. The Croatian left-back has signed a three-year contract, the Premier League club announced.
Ajax will receive a maximum of โฌ4 million for the defender, who wasnโt part of new manager John Heitingaโs plans.
Sosa signed with Ajax two years ago at the behest of then-technical director Sven Mislintat. The Amsterdam club loaned the Croatian to Torino last season. With next yearโs World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in mind, the Croatian wanted to join a club where he would have more playing time.
Sosaโs move helps Ajaxโs aim to cut player salaries by over โฌ15 million this season. With the departures of Jordan Henderson, Jakov Medic (Norwich City), Kristian Hlynsson (FC Twente), and Christian Rasmussen (Fortuna Dรผsseldorf), the club is well on its way to achieving this goal. Henderson, who is available on a free transfer, will likely continue his career at Brentford.
