Smart summer reshuffle: Ajax save 12 million euros in salaries

Ajax technical director Alex Kroes has been receiving a lot of praise, as it was announced that the clubโ€™s finances have improved faster than expected.

Kroes is the outwardly visible face of the transfer window, but according to De Telegraaf, Ajax considers the successful operation a true team effort that everyone at the club supported.

Looking at the transfer fees, the Amsterdam club acquired new players for a total of โ‚ฌ52 million. On the other hand, players were sold for over โ‚ฌ85 million.

The biggest financial victory this summer came from cleaning up the payroll. With the departure of surplus players and top earners Jordan Henderson and Brian Brobbey, a whopping โ‚ฌ22 million was saved on salaries.

On the other hand, the new signings earn less than โ‚ฌ10 million combined. Ajax thus made a profit of โ‚ฌ12 million on salaries. In addition, the income from qualifying for the Champions League also came in.
