Ajax sack technical director Sven Mislintat due to the ‘lack of broad support within the organisation’

Ajax have announced the sacking of Sven Mislintat just 166 days after he was appointed technical director of the Amsterdam club. A statement released by Ajax on Sunday said that the decision was made due to ‘the lack of broad support within the organisation’

Mislintat has come under fire recently after reportedly falling out with head coach Maurice Steijn. Last week the former head of scouting at Arsenal made an appeal to other staff members to try and get Steijn sacked. Now, he’s just found himself without a job.

Last week, Ajax launched an investigation into Mislintat after the club recruited a player on transfer deadline day through an agent’s office, which owns shares in Mislintat’s private company. Several rumours and reports have swirled around the media since about disagreements between Sven Mislintat and other staff members at Ajax.

On Sunday afternoon, Ajax took on Feyenoord in De Klassieker. The match was played for just 55 minutes before it was abandoned due to fans launching flares onto the pitch. With Ajax 3-0 down, fans showed their frustration by vandalising the Johan Cruyff Arena. It’s been a dreadful start to the season for the Dutch giants, who are currently 14th in the Eredivisie after four matches. All in all, it’s been a terrible day for the club.
