Ajax renegotiating Lucas Ocampos deal with furious Sevilla after board block transfer

Ajax and Sevilla are negotiating a new deal, worth €5m less than the initial agreed fee of €20m, for the transfer of Lucas Ocampos after the Dutch club’s board blocked the move, feeling it was too expensive.

Ajax looked to have secured their replacement for Antony extremely quickly yesterday when it was reported that they’d reached a deal with Sevilla, agreeing to pay €20m for Ocampos.

However, with the player already in Amsterdam, the club’s plans were thrown into chaos when the board blocked the purchase this morning.

They felt that they were paying too much in terms of both a transfer fee and wages for the 28-year-old, especially as he was being given a multi-year contract.

Now, according to De Telegraaf, Sevilla are willing to knock €5m off the price to try and offload the player and bring in replacement Adnan Januzaj.

The Spanish club are said to be furious with the Eredivisie champions, and this is likely to affect any future transfers the two sides discuss.
