Ajax prospect heads to Heerenveen for game time

Ajax have loaned Amourricho Axel Dongen to SC Heerenveen. The 20-year-old left-winger appears unlikely to get playing time in Amsterdam and will be given the opportunity to further develop his skills in Friesland. The loan deal does not include an option to buy.

Van Axel Dongen is scheduled to join Heerenveenโ€™s training camp, which will be in Wageningen for five days, on Monday. The loan agreement was reported by fan account ABE1920 and confirmed shortly after by Leeuwarder Courant reporter Sander de Vries. โ€œThat report is correct, Heerenveen will be loaning Van Axel-Dongen from Ajax. This means they have secured one winger.โ€

Heerenveen also hopes to sign striker Marko Farji. The 21-year-old Iraqi is under contract with Norwegian side Stromsgodset. Danilo Al-Saed is on track to leave the Abe Lenstra Stadium.

Voetbal International points to Veldman and Van Axel Dongenโ€™s past. Heerenveenโ€™s head coach knows the attacker from his time in Ajaxโ€™s youth academy. โ€œVeldman hopes to get Van Axel Dongen talking again now.โ€

Van Axel-Dongen, who barely played any minutes last season due to serious injuries, will have the opportunity to build up his rhythm in Friesland. โ€œBecause he earns a decent salary at Ajax, the loan move to Heerenveen is a win-win for both parties.โ€
