Ajax launch investigation after technical director Sven Mislintat signed a player through a business relationship

Ajax have launched an investigation into technical director Sven Mislintat after the Amsterdam club recruited a player on transfer deadline day through an agent’s office, which owns shares in Mislintat’s private company.

According to NOS Voetbal, the situation concerns Borna Sosa, who joined Ajax from VfB Stuttgart (Mislintat’s previous club) on the final day of the transfer window. The player was signed through the German agent’s office AKA Global, which represents Sosa. AKA Global reportedly owns shares in a company that Sven Mislintat is the majority shareholder of, Matchmetrics GmbH.

In a statement, Ajax claimed that they ‘are not aware of any shareholding that AKA Global has in Matchmetrics.’ The club added ‘Naturally, we discussed this with Sven. He has given a detailed explanation of this. Ajax is of course looking into this further and is being assisted by external advisors. Sven provides full cooperation, including sharing all relevant documents.’

Ajax are facing lots of issues on and off the pitch at the moment. On Tuesday, it was reported that Mislintat wants head coach Maurice Steijn sacked after just six games. However, now it seems his own position is in jeopardy. Ajax have lost two, drawn two and won two of their opening six games this season. The next few weeks will be huge for Sven Mislintat, Maurice Steijn and Ajax as a whole.
