Ajax identify Manchester City’s James McAtee as a possible replacement for Mohammed Kudus

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ajax have added Manchester City talent James McAtee to their shortlist as a possible replacement for Mohammed Kudus. West Ham and Brighton are eyeing moves for Kudus, who scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 42 appearances for Ajax last season. The Dutch club are set to open talks with Manchester City over a possible transfer for McAtee.

James McAtee spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, where he established himself as a fan favourite at Bramall Lane. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder scored nine goals and provided four assists in 43 appearances for the Blades last season, as they were promoted back to the Premier League. McAtee is a top talent. The three-time England U21 international can play in the centre of midfield or in attacking midfield. He’d certainly be a brilliant addition to this Ajax squad.

A move for the midfielder may only go ahead if Mohammed Kudus leaves this summer. Earlier this week, West Ham added the 23-year-old Ghana international to their shortlist. However, the Hammers may only make a move for the attacking midfielder if Lucas Paquetá leaves the club this summer. The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Manchester City.
