Ajax goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli expected to be out of action for months due to serious shoulder injury

According to Voetbal International, Ajax goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli could be absent for months after picking up a serious shoulder injury during the first game of the season.

In the 26th minute of Ajax’s clash against Heracles on Saturday, the 31-year-old goalkeeper collided with striker Jizz Hornkamp, resulting in Rulli dropping to the ground in discomfort. After receiving minutes of treatment, Rulli was stretchered off the pitch before being replaced by Jay Gorter.

After the match head coach Maurice Steijn was unable to provide an update on the shot stopper’s injury. However, Ajax expect he’ll be unavailable for months. It’s yet another goalkeeper blow for the club as Remko Pasveer is currently recovering from an injury.

Ajax are left with two goalkeepers. Jay Gorter (23) and new acquisition Diant Ramaj (21) are the options ahead of their clash with Excelsior next Saturday. A final update on Gerónimo Rulli’s injury is expected to be announced on Monday.
