Ajax fan in hospital after being stabbed in Naples

An Ajax fan is in hospital after being stabbed outside his hotel in Naples last night.

Over 2000 Ajax fans are set to be in attendance for the Eredivisie champions’ Champions League match with Napoli on Wednesday night.

The club previously warned those going not to make it clear that they’re an Ajax fan when walking through the city due to the danger of being attacked by Napoli supporters.

It’s now been made abundantly clear that danger is very real, with a spokesperson for the club informing Amsterdam news publication AT5 that a fan was last night stabbed outside the hotel he was staying in shortly after arriving in the city.

He was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment and is now reportedly doing well. Barring any setbacks, he could still attend the match tomorrow.

It’s unclear whether he was attacked because he was an Ajax or if he was wearing anything to reveal that he was one.
