Ajax closing in on new deal for Jorrel Hato valid until 2028

According to ESPN, Ajax are closing in on a new deal for Jorrel Hato, extending the youngsterโ€™s contract up until 2028. There are still details to be clarified, but Hato is happy to stay at Ajax amid interest from some of Europeโ€™s biggest clubs. There will not be a release clause included in the deal.

Jorrel Hato joined Ajaxโ€™s academy in the summer of 2018 and since then the 17-year-old star has gone on to feature 45 times for the first team. Last December, the defender became the youngest-ever starting captain for Ajax in European history. He has also recently become the fifth youngest player ever to play for the senior Netherlands national team.

The 2006-born talent has serious potential, which means clubs across Europe are keeping tabs on him. Arsenal are one of Hatoโ€™s biggest admirers. The North London side were keen on signing the Dutchman last month, but financially the move never quite seemed possible for the Gunners. Now, heโ€™s set to commit his future to Ajax, who are currently fifth in the Eredivisie table after their worst-ever start to a league season. Jorrel Hato has played a crucial role in helping Ajax rise from the bottom of the Eredivisie towards the top of the table.
