Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder addresses Remko Pasveer and Owen Wijndal situations

Alfred Schreuder has addressed the ongoing situations concerning Ajax players Remko Pasveer and Owen Wijndal, ESPN reports.

Pasveer, 39, is thought to be unimpressed with Ajax signing of former Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli in the transfer window with the Argentine believed to come in as the new number one.

Rulli, who won the Europa League at his previous club, makes his debut against Den Bosch in the KNVB Cup and Schreuder sees the World Cup winner as the new number one at the Johan Cruyff Arena but has been criticised with the lack of dialogue with Pasveer – which only started this week.

“On Monday I talked to Remko about the fact that I think he [Rulli] should now keep. Then he can show it too,” the coach told ESPN.

“I think it is very clear that we are very satisfied with Remko’s performance at Ajax.”

“Ajax must always try to strengthen itself on the transfer market and we have now tried to do that. We think he is a very good keeper. Of course Remko never likes that, but we had a super mature conversation. He is a super professional and that is only good for Ajax.”

Schreduer was questioned about comments he made regarding left-back Wijndal, 23, – who was dropped in the draw against NEC Nijmegen – after saying he can “deliver more”.

The Ajax head coach justified his comments: “Because I think he is very talented.

“We get you, then you can show more. Everyone knows he is a very big talent. He just has to dominate that left side.”
