Ajax and Jorrel Hato reach agreement on contract extension valid until 2028

According to De Telegraaf, Ajax and Jorrel Hato have reached an agreement on a contract extension valid until 2028. The 18-year-old Netherlands international gave the green light on Monday afternoon, which will lead to great satisfaction around the Johan Cruyff Arena. Some of Europe’s biggest outfits have had eyes on Hato, who joined Ajax’s academy from Sparta Rotterdam in 2018. Arsenal wanted to make a move for the talented teenager in January but were financially restricted.

Jorrel Hato, who turned 18 last week, has featured 45 times for Ajax’s first team. Last December, the defender became the youngest-ever starting captain for Ajax in European history. He has also recently become the fifth youngest player ever to play for the senior Netherlands national team.

The 2006-born talent has serious potential, which is why clubs across Europe are keeping tabs on him. Now, he has committed his future to Ajax, who are currently fifth in the Eredivisie table after their worst-ever start to a league season. Jorrel Hato has played a crucial role in helping Ajax rise from the bottom of the Eredivisie towards the top of the table. The Amsterdammers travel to Villa Park on Thursday ahead of the Europa Conference League second-leg tie with Aston Villa.
