Afellay praises Feyenoord’s winter signing: ‘He’s made a good impression’

Jakub Moder guided Feyenoord past Fortuna Sittard on Saturday with two goals. With his performance, the Pole who came over from Brighton in the winter made a good impression on Ibrahim Afellay.

On the Studio Voetbal show, the analyst discussed the game of the Feyenoord midfielder with great enthusiasm.

Afellay is pleased with what Moder has shown so far at Feyenoord. “He’s made a good impression so far, you know. It’s not like he’s landed in a made bed at Feyenoord, with so many things going on at the club, the change of coach, more than half the team injured, players who are not able to perform. Then, in such a phase, in which it is crucial to secure third place, especially for the financial situation of the club.”

“If you then also win the bad matches, like last week against AZ and now against Fortuna Sittard, then that is of enormous importance,” continues Afellay, who thinks that Feyenoord will keep FC Utrecht at arms length in fourth.

“Utrecht are already having a great season. I do not believe that FC Twente or AZ will catch up with them. It is already a top season for Utrecht.”
