AFC Bournemouth owner looking to acquire Standard Liege from Everton linked 777

According to Sacha Tavolieri, AFC Bournemouth owner Bill Foley is looking into acquiring Standard Liege from 777. The side have only been under the group for two seasons, but it has been clear that the financial backing required to return the side to being a competitive force in Belgian football is not forthcoming. After multiple transfer embargoes and late payments of contracts, perhaps it is time to sell up.

Foley has been looking to acquire a Belgian side over the past year. He has already been close to bringing Charleroi and KV Oostende under his control, while he also did have some interest in Gent. Standard fans will be glad to see an end to the current 777 tenure, which has not gone as foreseen when they became the majority shareholders of the side. Foley will also have to understand that the fanbase is in desparate need of some hope going into a summer where a major shake up is needed. In Ivan Leko, they certainly have a coach with enough pedigree and knowhow to bring success, it is now just about putting the tools at his disposal.

Foley has recently expanded his footballing portfolio by acquiring a 25% share in Scottish side Hibernian.
