16-year-old Shane Kluivert follows in his father’s footsteps and signs a professional contract with Barcelona

Shane Kluivert has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Barcelona. The 16-year-old son of Patrick Kluivert announced the news via Instagram on Monday morning, along with the caption: ‘Very proud and honoured to have signed my first professional contract with FC Barcelona. Thank you for the trust! Visca el Barca.’

Patrick Kluivert experienced an illustrious career with seven different clubs. The former Netherlands international striker played for Ajax, AC Milan, Newcastle United and FC Barcelona, among other clubs. He featured 182 times for the Spanish giants, scoring 90 goals. Now, his son Shane will play for the 27-time La Liga champions.

In 2016, Shane Kluivert made the step up from Amateur football to professional football, by moving to Paris Saint-Germain’s youth academy. A year later he joined Barcelona. The left-winger already has a contract with Nike and is known to be an incredibly exciting talent. Shane’s older brothers Justin And Ruben also play professional football. Justin Kluivert (24) currently plays for AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, and Ruben Kluivert (22) plays as a defender for Eerste Divisie side FC Dordrecht.
