11 goals in six games for Gift Orban as Gent all but seal Seraing’s fate

Gent’s inform striker Gift Orban continued his assault on the Belgian Pro League with a brace as the Buffaloes romped to a 5-0 victory over bottom side Seraing. Should Eupen manage a point against Anderlecht in their next game, then Seraing will be all but down, as with just three games to go they are eight points from safety. Their final three fixtures are against Club Brugge, Union St Gilloise and Westerlo.

Nigerian striker Orban scored twice, giving him an incredible 11 goals in his past six games. Strike partner Hugo Cuypers also scored two and Jordan Torunarigha got one as the side won 5-0. With his two goals in the game Cuypers not only stretched his lead in terms of being the top Belgian scorer in the Pro League, he also overtook Antwerp’s Vincent Janssen as the league wide top scorer with 18 goals.

Gent’s win. alongside Standard Liege’s 3-1 win over another relegation threatened side in Oostende, means that Club Brugge fall to sixth place. The defending champions face Mechelen on Sunday with a five points gap to the top four.
